This year we're celebrating our 50th anniversary in business. As we looked back on our past 50 years (see Up Close & Personnel,) we had a lot of fun. There have been lots of changes – changes that seemed gradual at the time, but in retrospect, they are huge. I suspect the changes in the next 50 years will be even more accelerated. We've moved from 24 day delivery to 24 hour delivery. We're now selling each day what we used to sell in an entire year. My dad and mom started out doing it all themselves. Now it takes a coordinated team of dedicated individuals to pull it all off; we're much more productive and lower cost than ever before. Looking forward toward the next 50 years, we know our business will not look anything like our business today, as we expect similar gigantic improvements.
